In Craigavon, Youth for Christ has grown out of a heart of consistent prayer in the area, and a commitment to engage with the most broken and difficult to reach young people.

 

To help give context to the area that we operate in below are listed some findings from the Craigavon Assessment of Need 2017-2020 of the issues that the young people face;

 

• • Education, exams and employment

• • Healthy Relationships & Child Sexual Exploitation  

• • Personal identity, and dealing with peer pressure, and self-image.  

• • Boredom, and getting caught up in anti-social behaviour  

• • Sectarianism, Feeling safe, Fighting, Abandonment   

• • Mental Health, and drug and alcohol misuse and self-harm

• • Poverty

• • Craigavon now has the 3rd highest completed suicide rate in Northern Ireland 

Our aim was to work towards combating each of these issues to help change the narrative of the young people that we encountered – one life at a time. 

Under the leading of God and in obedience to His Spirit we set ourselves the following priorities, fully relying on Him to lead us into a future where we work for the transformation of Craigavon!
